Hi there, my thirsty friends at Club REELZ.
It’s me the Club REELZ Chef! I just put on my “mad mixologist” lab coat to experiment with mixing fun Fall toddies. Here are three favorites sure to warm the soul and get the celebration started.
Spicy Sippy Buttered Cider
INGREDIENTS
1 Gallon Apple Cider
2 Cups fresh Orange Juice
¼ Cup Honey
8 Cinnamon sticks
¼ tsp Ground Cloves
1 tsp Ground Ginger
2 Tbs Softened Unsweetened Butter
For Adults Only: Rum or Bourbon to taste
Garnish: Orange Slice and Cinnamon Stick
PREP
Combine the cider, orange juice, honey, cinnamon sticks, clove and ginger in a large pot and simmer over low to medium heat for about 15 minutes. Make sure that you don’t boil the concoction. Pour the mixture into mugs leaving the big cinnamon sticks in the pot. Add a dollop (about ½ tsp) of butter to each mug. Add a shot of your favorite alcohol (I prefer Rum in this mix) to the adult drinks and garnish with a slice of orange and a fresh cinnamon stick. Kids will love it without the extra incentive.
Hot Spiced Cranberry Toddy
INGREDIENTS
1 Gallon Cranberry Juice Cocktail
2 Cups Apple Cider
¼ Cup Honey
4 Cinnamon sticks
8 Cardamom Pods
1 tsp Ground Ginger
20 Peppercorns
For Adults Only: Bourbon or Rye to taste
Garnish: Orange Slice and Apple Slice
PREP
Combine all ingredients except the alcohol and garnish in a large pot and simmer over low to medium heat for about 15 minutes. Make sure that you don’t boil the concoction. Pour the mixture into mugs through a strainer so that no large spices get into the mug. Add about a shot of your favorite alcohol (I prefer Bourbon) to the adult drinks and garnish with a slice of orange and a slice of Apple. Again, you can leave out the Bourbon and the kids will still have a treat.
Merry Mulled Wine
INGREDIENTS
2 Bottles of Red Wine (fruity rather than dry)
1Cup fresh Orange Juice
¼ Cup Honey
4 Cinnamon sticks
15 whole Cloves
2 1” Strips of fresh Ginger (skinned)
1 Juice of 1 fresh Lemon
Zest ½ Orange
½ Cup of Raisins
½ Cup of Dried Cherries
5 Dried Prunes
2 Shots of Brandy (Cognac can substitute)
Garnish: Orange Slice to float on top of each glass
PREP
Combine all the ingredients except the garnish in a large pot and simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and keep below a simmer for about 30 minutes and stir constantly with a slotted spoon or a whisk. Make sure it doesn’t boil! Pour the mixture into glasses through a strainer or sieve making sure no fruit or spices get in the glass. Garnish with a slice of orange and serve. This is not for the faint of heart or for children!
All three of these concoctions will warm the cockles of your heart and can be enjoyed with friends or with just yourself, snug and comfy in your favorite Beanie cap. Don’t forget to click below for a chance to win a warm and comfy On Patrol: Live beanie cap.
Happy Holidays,
