In 2018 Queen had achieved the seemingly impossible. A multi-Oscar winning hit movie and a sell out world wide tour has seen the band become bigger than ever before, nearly thirty years after the tragic loss of the iriconic frontman, Freddie Mercury. “Queen and Adam Lambert: The Show Must Go On” picks up where the box office smash hit “Bohemian Rhapsody” leaves off. Beginning at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 1992, it charts how Brian May and Roger Taylor struggled to come to terms with Freddie’s passing and sought out a new direction. Continuing without Freddie was unthinkable, but then so was allowing Queen and their music to fade into a museum piece.
What followed was a journey of reconnecting with their audience through the record breaking“We Will Rock You – The Musical”, a concert in Cape Town for Nelson Mandela’s 46664 charity, and a brief but successful collaboration with singer Paul Rodgers. Adam Lambert has since become one of the most popular and memorable contestants ever to appear on the show, and week after week demonstrated his extraordinary vocal range andflairfor showmanship. A phenomenal rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” provided the moment that would change his life forever, culminating in a performance of “We Are The Champions” with Brian and Roger in the season finale.
